Singapore Trip

It was during last month's airfare sales that mother decided she wanted to go to Singapore to visit my auntie and family. And she insisted that I shall accompany her there. Thus, I checked the flight online and managed to get very cheap flight tickets for direct Pg-Sg flight to Singapore. And on 6th-9th June, mom, me, another auntie and her son visited Singapore after much hesitation due to the outbreak of A(H1N1) virus.

It was not really a holiday trip but rather to visit my uncle who got stroke not long after our wedding. Though it was more of sisters catching-up reunion, we still managed to spend some time visiting a few tourist spots in Singapore. The Singapore Flyer (claimed to be the world's largest observation wheel), the Jurong bird park and the science centre are among some of the places we visited. As one of my aunties is looking for branded bags like LV, Burberry or Coach, we went for shopping in a few departmental stores too.

Share with you some of the pics we took at the Singapore Flyer.

Stress, stress, stress...

Ten more days before the examination takes place. I am actually quite stressed up with this upcoming entry test. There is no format given, no scope given except it's bible knowledge, no hints on whether it would be T&F, multiple choices, short essays, fill in the blanks or long essays.

To make things worse, the test will be carried out in mandarin. With my limited vocabs in mandarin, there is no different whether it would be typing or hand-writing. If it is typing, I would definitely spend a lot of time in spelling my pinyin. If it is hand written, I would then spend a lot of time pondering on how to write those words out.

I am in fact ready to accept the reality even if I fail this test. But still... I am stressed up!

Blackout Hour

The blackout hour last night gave me a moment to think through something so true about human nature. It was out of sudden that the area that I live in had a total darkness... It was the loss of electricity.

The first thing that popped up in my mind is...oh, dear! I am going to sleep soon. How am I going to sleep without electricity? I had no choice but to climb up my bed with the help of the light on my mobile.

During the hour of blackout, i was wondering how our grandpa and grandma and even our great grandparents would survive without electricity? How warm it would be in the afternoon without the comfort of air-cond or fan? How inconvenient it would be without light at night? They would only rely on the small light from candles or oil burner to bright up the place. Then, i started to imagine that the weather should be colder many years ago compared with the current weather. Why the world is getting warmer and warmer, and causes all this global warming? It is due to the 'good deeds' of human beings as well. When the weather was not that warm, we tried to be clever by inventing air-cond and electricity for the convenience of people, however, until this stage in time, we have become the slave to our own invention. We are not able to survive without electricity and air-cond. Sigh!

Beside that, I was wondering it must had been very difficult for Jesus and His disciples when they walked around to evangelise. Not only that, maybe they had to walk under the very hot sun for the whole day as well. Hmmm... so far when I read bible I never consider the weather when they walked from one place to the other, may it be hot? may it be cold?

Maybe... It is me who just took things for granted!

Finding memories on my teenage years

Reading through the diary that I used to write gave me a lot of memories both sweet and bad. It was two days ago that I accidentally found my diary kept inside the lowest drawer in my wardrobe. In fact I couldn't remember any single thing I wrote in my diary so I decided to read through again.
Writing diary was the habit since i was 16 but however this habit had stopped during my college time. Most of my entries were on friends and BGR. It would be either on who I met or what I had done with my friends. Some would include the arguments that I had with friends and surely it included the elements of pride and jealousy.
It gave me a moment to reflect back how was I as a teenager and what would be the things in the mind of teenagers. Although time might have changed and the interest of teenagers nowadays are different from my time, but I guess it helps abit as how I should talk to teenagers in church and what I should expect from them. It helps also to evaluate whether we have put too much pressure on what they are doing and what they shouldnt be doing as teenagers.
There was at one point that I thought I was so childish previously but it was those experiences that I have which shapes me to be the person that I am right now. So, no regret on my past and strive hard to be a better person in the future.

A Visit to the doctor

I went to a clinic after work yesterday. Initially was thinking of consulting Dr. Koay who is specialised in sports injuries but the clinic was closed when i reached there. I then directed to the clinic a few shops away to consult this Dr. Ko Ko Win. As weird as the name might sound, the doctor only said four sentences and expected me to pay him RM30. The first thing he questioned:" What happened to you?". I answered:" I am having lower back pain". "Where is the pain, centre or side?". "Center", I replied. The third sentence was " Do you have gastric pain?" and the last sentence was "Ok, i will prescribe to you two types of medicines." *sweat*
He paused for a long period of time and expecting me to just walk out and pay the RM30. Unsatisfied with this kind of consultation i was hesitated to go off so I continued by asking him for a few more questions for him to explain in more details before heading off to get my medicines.
Doubting on his expertise, I then searched the world wide web to get some information on the drugs he prescribed. The anticid is actually to protect the stomach, so nothing much to say about it. The other drug that he prescribed was Voltaren. This drug is NSAID drug to relieve inflammation, swelling, stiffness, and joint pain which comes with many side effects. More common side effects are abdominal bleeding, abnorminal pain or cramps, swelling, anemia, blood clotting problems, constipation, diarrhea, dizziness, fluid retention, headache, heartburn, peptic ulcers, rash, vomiting and so forth. With this kind of information given, I would prefer to let it cure naturally with some oilments instead of taking this drug. At the end of the day, it's a waste of RM30 to learn some information on the drug prescribed.

SPRAIN...

What a bad day yesterday. As usual I went to church in the morning for Sunday service. But who knows I sprained my back even before the sunday service started. It happened in an ordinary way and without much actions to be described. Can't deny that I am getting old now!! I just bent forward. That's it. My back started to feel the pain and both the back of my legs started to feel numb. I then applied the medication plaster bought from the supermarket downstairs. But unfortunately until now the pain still have not subside after one day. I might go to consult a doctor after work today if it is still painful.
Some people told me to go to the traditional chinese massage but somehow I feel it is a bit risky to try out... coz I never try before and not sure if it really works...
